ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Texans will attempt to trade WR/KR Jacoby Jones after drafting DeVier Posey in the third round.
Coach Gary Kubiak has publicly thrown his support behind Jones, but the 28-year-old (in July) has become a luxury as a $3 million punt returner. If the Texans can't find a taker, Jones could even be released. This news suggests Houston is comfortable projecting Posey as the No. 3 receiver to enter the season

I saw they were trying to trade him, I didn't see them get a taker. Likely cut projects PFT.

always waited for this guy to turn the corner... never's happened.. in that offense with that QB there's no reason for it (when the TE has more yards than you--b-bye)

I was all over this guy too. Loved what I saw early in his career, thought he might breakout into a big time player in year 2 or 3, took a chance on him in several drafts but still the pick was so late in the draft he never cost me anything either.

I too got burned by him several times.

If you can't beat out Kevin Walter for a job, you're probably not grunt to garner much interest on the open market.

Not to get all racial, but that can't look good to be buried behind the slow short white dude on the depth chart.

 I hear you.. was joking too... although I'd love to see a 40 time on Welker.. is he still fast? he doesn't look it. Quick and awesome routes.. but I don't know if he's running away from most defenders nowadays...

I've become sort of a fan of Kevin Walter... given the chance HE's the one who's performed when Andre was out and it was just him and the TE... so I'm not sorry to see jacoby jones go.

Oh I agree - I had Wakter in his best year & he helped me win a PPR Championship - my only trophy in all these years. I love the guy. If jacoby jones had Walter's heart, work ethic & hands he'd be phenominal. Or conversely if only Walter had Jones' physical gifts.

Jones will get picked up - someone will want/need him as a KR/PR...I dunno if he'll get another chance as a "deep threat" anywhere.

So you agree with Flacco's opinion of himself as a top 10 (or did he say top 5) QB?

Flacco had better numbers in his first 4 years than either eli manning, drew brees, or ben roethlisberger. I think it is still a possibility that flacco emerges as an elite QB.

Plus with boldin constantly hurt and/or ineffective I think that jacoby could see plenty of snaps this year. I am back on the bandwagon

Sorry.. if Schaub--who was SEARCHING for a #2 when AJ was blanketed couldn't help him get great numbers.. pairing him up with Flacco (who's good not great.. IMO Schaub is borderline great) won't improve those numbers. Please draft him in round 2-3 so I can take a guy who will produce. :)

Baltimore paid him an awful lot of money for a punt returner. I don't see how a downgrade at QB and downgraded receiving corps is going to help Jones break out. He'll back up Torry Smith as the deep guy.

I won't be surprised if Flacco breaks out but I think Torry Smith gets more of those passes then followed by Boldin. I think Jones at best is their Wr 3.

That is how I'm viewing him as well, WR3 and punt returner as Stalker mentioned. I have a hard time seeing a high ceiling, and I have an easy time seeing a low floor.

I agree completely.

It is just that I have talked up Jacoby Jones every other offseason, why stop now.

Consistency! No where to go but up! Just like Flacco!

Maybe this is reverse psychology as a Steelers fan. When you promote people, do they go down with injuries often?

I do understand because I've been talking him up for the same # of seasons. He is going to be the type of guy that unless your draft is really deep will probably be sitting there after the draft. If he happens to have a decent early game I'd be a buyer.
